The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra brings the spirit of Vienna to town, recreating the Vienna Philharmonic’s famous New Year’s Day concert on Friday 25 October, 8pm and Saturday 26 October, 8pm at the Festival Theatre.
One of the most popular classical music events in the world, the concert takes place each year on the morning of 1 January in Vienna’s Musikverein. One of the world’s great conductors steps on to the podium to lead the orchestra in the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss family.

In October the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will bring to life this extraordinary event, together with ASO favourites, conductor Guy Noble and soprano Antoinette Halloran. The program will include The Beautiful Blue Danube and other classics by Johann Strauss; Tritsch-Tratsch Polka and Thunder and Lightning Polka. One of Australia’s most accomplished and best-loved sopranos, Halloran will perform arias by Mozart and the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein piece, Edelweiss, from The Sound of Music.
