It’s happening now – here, there and anywhere. The Brisbane Anywhere Festival is back for its 15th year, running until August 3 and inviting audiences to experience performances in the most unexpected places.
The festival continues its tradition of showcasing theatre, music, dance and storytelling of all genres in unconventional venues across the city.
Building on the success of the 2024 festival, the 2025 edition promises to deliver even more innovative and immersive experiences with almost 200 performances in more than 100 locations from backyards to bus stops, warehouses to rooftops.
Anywhere Festival is about breaking down the barriers between performers and audiences, says visionary founder and artistic director Paul Osuch.
“By taking art out of traditional venues and into everyday spaces, we create intimate and memorable experiences that resonate with our community,” Osuch says.
Whether you’re a seasoned theatre-goer or new to the arts scene, Anywhere Festival offers something for everyone. With performances ranging from theatre to music, dance to burlesque, spoken word and comedy, audiences are encouraged to explore Brisbane’s nooks and crannies in a whole new light.
Tickets are affordably priced, ensuring accessibility for all while providing low cost or rent-free venues for artists, so artists can earn for their work.
“Our goal is to make the arts accessible and to celebrate the creativity that thrives in our city,” adds Osuch. “We invite everyone to join us in discovering the magic that happens when performance meets place.”
Brisbane Anywhere Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Brisbane City Council. Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek says Anywhere Festival uses iconic locations across Brisbane as the backdrop for an exciting program of performances.
“Anywhere Festival is an incubator of creativity that inspires artists and art workers to take their performances from the stage to the streets by utilising local nooks and crannies in all corners of Brisbane,” says Langbroek.
Unexpected locations this year include the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, St Patrick’s church, a school rooftop, The Paint Factory in Yeronga, an Annerley Op Shop, community halls and spaces, houses, the City Botanic Garden, along with a historical cellar in West End.
