A Queensland man accused of murdering a four-year-old girl, who was found dead in a Brisbane home, has been remanded in custody.
Mark James Dunn, 43, was not required to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday when his case was briefly mentioned.
Police established a crime scene at the Cannon Hill home on Monday after the girl was found dead about 9:20am.
Officers cordoned off Bent Street in the eastern suburb as detectives tried to determine the cause of death.
Police said the child died before emergency crews arrived at the scene.
Officers spent several hours door-knocking neighbours’ homes in an attempt to find out how the girl had died.
Detectives and forensic officers remained at the house into the night.
Late last night, police announced they had taken a man into custody.
At this stage, neither the man’s relationship with the girl nor the cause of her death have been revealed.
Dunn’s case was adjourned and he will reappear in the same court on July 20.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
