The 50-year-old from Brisbane’s bayside was charged late last night and is due in court this morning over the fires, which broke out in quick succession in Highgate Hill.

A man will face court today, accused of starting a series of fires in Brisbane.
Police allege the 50-year-old from Wynnum lit three fires in quick succession in Highgate Hill about 9:30pm Tuesday. The fires were allegedly lit at two homes on the same street and a unit block around the corner.
One of the homes and the unit block had people inside when the fires broke out, but residents managed to escape.
The residents of the home helped put out the blaze and escaped uninjured.
Those living in the unit block also got out unscathed, but five cars in its carpark were damaged.
The other home that was set alight was unoccupied and received the worst damage of the three blazes.
Police will allege the man also set fire to some debris on the popular night time strip on Boundary Road, at the adjacent suburb of West End, which then spread to a nearby wheelie bin.
The man has been charged with 12 offences, including five counts of arson of a motor vehicle and two counts each of endangering property by fire and arson of a structure or building.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
