Man stopped at border had shotgun, ammo and drugs, police say
A man who tried to cross the Queensland border has been charged after police found a shortened firearm, ammunition and drugs.
The 31-year-old from Southport was stopped in a blue Audi sedan at the border checkpoint on the Gold Coast Highway, Bilinga, after midnight on August 18.
Queensland police allege he was wearing an ammunition belt with shotgun shells and carrying methamphetamine.
A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a loaded shortened firearm, drugs including Suboxone and Xanax, and drug utensils.

He was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs as well as unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing utensils or pipes and contravening community-based health orders.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on September 15.
