Redflow cracks US energy market with California supply deal
Battery company Redflow has signed a deal to supply energy storage to a microgrid in California.
The $US1.2 million ($A1.5 million) deal will mean the Brisbane-based Redflow would supply the system to support two megawatt hours of energy and reduce peak energy use at Anaergia’s Rialto bioenergy facility, which diverts gas from a landfill.
The deal represents Redflow’s largest single sale and deployment of batteries, according to managing director Tim Harris.
“This project enables Redflow to establish a presence in California where we can offer commercially proven zinc-bromine flow battery solutions to the broader Californian and US energy market which is expected to rapidly transition to renewable energy,” Harris said.
“We are very excited about the potential for Redflow in California and the broader US market.”
Redflow recently partnered with Optus in a blackspot program in Victoria in which it delivered batteries to bolster the network.
Redflow shares rocketed 85 per cent on the announcement with 120 million traded.
