Human remains have been uncovered under a Brisbane unit complex, sparking a potential homicide investigation.
Cleaners discovered the remains partially buried under an Alderley Avenue unit complex in Brisbane’s north on Wednesday morning.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham told reporters the cleaners discovered the tightly wrapped body in a locked void area behind a brick wall. It appeared to have been there for “some months”, he said.
“The person has taken great care to wrap the body up in a certain way and preserve it,” he said.
Investigations by detectives from Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and the Homicide Unit are underway to determine the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding the death.
A crime scene has been declared, with forensic officers scouring the scene.
