QIC Real Estate managing director Michael O’Brien has been elected president of the Property Council of Australia with Stockland chief executive Tarun Gupta and Dexus executive Deborah Coakley elected as national vice presidents.
Outgoing president David Harrison will become the immediate past president and therefore remain on the council board for a further two years.
O’Brien said it was a privilege to be elected by his industry peers to the role and to represent an industry that created more jobs for Australians than any other.
“I look forward to promoting our thought leadership on real solutions to Australia’s housing, planning, investment and net zero challenges. As a Property Champion of Change, I will also ensure the increasing and welcome diversity of our industry is reflected in our leadership on creating inclusive workforces and workplaces,” he said.
Council chief executive Mike Zorbas welcomed the new leadership.
Collins Foods Group has announced that its chief financial officer Nigel Williams would step down from his role and return to the UK after eight years.
He would remain with the company until June and managing director Drew O’Malley said Williams had been integral to the company’s success.
An executive search has started for a replacement.
Entrepreneur Steve Baxter said he was excited to announce that he had joined Taj Pabari MASE at The ASE Group as an ambassador, advisor, and investor.
He said his journey from regional Queensland to Shark Tank Australia had taught him the power of hard work, determination, and having the right support on your entrepreneurial journey.

Takeover target intelliHR has lost two directors, both of whom were nominees from Colinton Capital which had been a substantial shareholder in the company. It notified the ASX on Thursday that it had sold its shares in the current takeover battle for the company.
That meant David Slocomb and Ilona Charles would retire from the board.
Former federal public servant Adrian Hudson has been appointed general manager of Queensland Shared Services.
He was most recently the chief operating officer in the Department of Social Services and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Populous has welcomed Dr Kavita Gonsalves as new sustainable design lead (APAC) in its Brisbane office.
The company said Gonsalves would bring experience in sustainability consulting, design strategy and placemaking.
Green Critical Minerals has appointed Christopher Zielinski as a non-executive director.
The ASX listed company said Zielinski was an experienced corporate lawyer and director of Nova Legal, in Perth. His experience was in M&A, equity capital markets, regulatory compliance and commercial transactions.
Great Southern Bank has appointed Alan Lee as its chief financial officer.
It said Lee had worked for some of the world’s leading financial and professional services organisations.
He was most recently the CFO at ING.
After over 10 years as a director of the UQ Centre for Natural Gas, Andrew Garnett has decided to step down. UQ said he has made an enormous contribution to industry, government and community, and would be sorely missed.
UQ is currently recruiting a replacement.
Kelly Palmer will be starting with Queensland Hydro as its head of corporate health and safety.
Palmer has been with Snowy Hydro for the past decade where she was the manager of safety systems and before that was WHS manager at Sara Lee.
William Isdale has resigned from his role as senior legal officer with the Australian Law Reform Commission after two years.
He will move to Brisbane to pursue a new career as a barrister.
After five years with Shell Energy, Steve Nichols has left the company.
After joining ERM, which was bought by Shell, Nichols has moved to Youi Insurance as chief information officer.
Egis has appointed David Derrick as managing principal in Queensland.
Previously he was with Aecom where he was group leader and strategic client director.
Software company Novoplan has welcomed Michelle Lacey as its new solution delivery manager.
It was a newly created role for the company.
Lacey would be responsible for overseeing the delivery of products to the company’s customer base.
