AMA loses leadership during capital raising
Smash repair company AMA Group has lost its chair and chief executive in the middle of a capital raising as the company declares that the past few years have been tough.
AMA struggled through the pandemic when lockdowns meant people were not driving and therefore not crashing their cars. It also had a legal scandal with a former executive that created weeks of headlines.
The company said the decision by chair Anthony Day to retire was consistent with its succession planning. Executive director and CEO Carl Bizon has also resigned without any replacement made immediately available.
Director Anthony Ruiz has also retired.
Independent director Caroline Waldron would step in as chair and Talbot Babineau has been made deputy chair.

Day said Bizon had taken on the CEO role under challenging circumstances and “his stoicism and continued dedication through what has been an incredibly difficult two and a half year has been nothing short of exemplary.”
The company said the departures were unrelated to its current capital-raising campaign.
A search has started for a new chief executive.
