Police have charged a Queensland man with two counts of attempted murder following a stabbing attack that left two women in hospital.

A 36-year-old man surrendered to Mount Isa police on Tuesday shortly after an altercation at a residence in the northwest Queensland town.
Police allege a 35-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman, both known to the man, received multiple stab wounds in the incident.
The 35-year-old was flown to Townsville University Hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
The 18-year-old remains in Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
Police charged the man with two counts of attempted murder (domestic violence) and one count each of rape (domestic violence) and breach of a domestic violence order.
He is expected to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
