Journalist and podcast host Amelia Oberhardt steps up to answer InQueensland’s 10 questions for your summer reading.
What has been the highlight of 2023 for you?
Definitely the podcast and the way it was received – knowing it had helped so many people was very rewarding
If you could have done something differently this year, what would it be and why?
Probably listened less to other people’s opinions!
Who is someone to watch for in 2024?
Amy Gerard- she is mom goals and extremely real and entertaining
What is your most vivid memory of the festive holidays?
My grandparents place at Caloundra .. spending Christmas holidays swimming in the swamp water of golden beach and walking with my dad to the TAB and an ice cream.
Do you have any unique or funny holiday traditions?
Every year we celebrate Xmas on Xmas eve and we call it Festivus based on the Seinfeld episode. We play airing of grievances and feats of strength and wear Jerry Seinfeld shirts with his different sayings.. fair to say the airing of grievances can be fairly spicy! Haha
What’s your New Year’s resolution for 2024?
To be unbothered .. and sleep more
If you could have anyone from any time period attend your Christmas lunch, who would you choose?
I’d love to say something smart and educated but truly Mariah Carey. She’s my hero
Coastal holiday or city holiday?
Coastal all the way! Nothing better than salt water and sandy toes.
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
Hopefully working on my next podcast and hopefully bringing to light the stories of all the women that reached out on a different platform
Do you have a summer book or podcast you can recommend?
Shamelessly I’ll plug Secrets We Keep (shame lies and family). But also I loved the girlfriends poddy. And I am a huge fan of world war 2 novels- the nightingale by Krisitn Hannah is my book of the year
