With a background in restaurants and high-end dining, Henry confesses that the early morning cafe life has been a bit of an adjustment. Fortunately, with Allpress Espresso’s A.R.T. espresso roast flowing through the machines, the transition has been smoother.
Named after the Italian word for flour, FARINA & Co was designed by Bridgette Ford from ArchInteriors and brought to life by Shopfit Co. A show-stopping marble-topped bench runs the length of the venue, with chefs and pastry chefs rolling, kneading and plating right in front of you, adding a little drama to each dish.
An antique baker’s rack imported from France by Henry’s grandmother is filled to the brim with freshly baked bread, while treats are contained in the cabinet. We’re talking flaky almond croissants, tarts, cakes and pastries. Outside, a scattering of lemon-hued umbrellas and French bistro chairs line the walkway outside, creating a charming and inviting atmosphere.
When it comes to the menu, Henry, alongside The Amore Collection’s executive chef Daniil Paulman, has embraced the shift, bringing restaurant-level quality and service to a cafe environment. The all-day menu adds a little Italian flavour to much-loved classics.Instead of eggs Benny, for example, you’ll find cacio pepe eggs, drenched in parmesan sauce (from the famous parmesan wheel) and cracked pepper. For the sweet tooths, the caramelised pear and sweet polenta is the perfect winter warmer.FARINA’s specialty, however, is fresh handmade pasta. The Moreton Bay big linguine with house-made fettuccine and pan-kissed tomatoes is a true standout. Rounding out the offering are prosciutto-topped foccacia, mortadella paninis, salads and a rotating soup of the day.
Ensuring no diner will be parched, FARINA & Co offers fresh juice, specialty hot chocolate, milkshakes, and from 10:00 am, a clutch of sparkling and champagne options, white, rosé and red wines.
