The state Government has appointed a new Racing Queensland Board to oversee the implementation of new industry reforms outlined in The Next Lap: A plan for the future of Queensland Racing.
Matthew McGrath was appointed as the new Chairperson, along with five new board members representing law, financial services, public relations and more.
McGrath led the 2025 Queensland Racing Review and has extensive board experience as the former Chairman of the Australian Turf Club and a director of the Cronulla Sharks.

Kym Daly also joins the board as a previous member of the Racing Review Panel and with significant experience in Thoroughbred racing, delivering integrity services, training and consulting internationally.
Townsville-based legal professional and racehorse shareholder Michelle Morton will also join the board as the director to champion regional and country racing.
Gary Cunningham also joins the board with extensive experience in the Thoroughbred racehorse industry, alongside the Honourable Jane Prentice.
Tally Brenson, a seasoned public affairs specialist with over twenty-four years of experience in Diplomatic, Military, Government, Political, Not-for-profit and corporate sectors, was also appointed.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the members possessed the appropriate balance of experience to guide the industry.
“It was imperative we have a Board that continues to represent the three codes of racing, while adding directors that will champion both integrity and regional and country racing,” Mander said.
Emporium Hotel South Bank recently announced the appointment of Julia Wardle as its new Director of Sales and Marketing as the company enhances its growth and innovation.

Wardle brings extensive experience across luxury hospitality, commercial strategy and brand leadership at Emporium Hotels, through previous roles as Guest Service Agent and Business Development Manager.
More recently, Wardle has led a national and international sales portfolio in key leisure, wholesale and global markets at Minor Hotels.
Returning to Emporium Hotels in a senior leadership capacity, Wardle will oversee brand strategy, sales performance and partnerships across tourism, corporate and lifestyle sectors.
Emporium Hotel South Bank General Manager Julie Manega said Wardle’s strong industry connections will support the brand’s business trajectory.
“This appointment is particularly exciting as it sees Julia return to Emporium Hotel, and we look forward to continuing the journey with her,” Manega said.
Julia said, “I’m looking forward to strengthening Emporium Hotels’ market presence, driving innovation across sales and marketing and contributing to the continued growth and evolution of Australia’s luxury hospitality landscape.”
Noosa Alive! marks exciting new chapter with new CEO
Now in its 24th year, Noosa Alive! Festival has announced the appointment of Damien Anthony Avery-Rossi as new Chief Executive Officer, along with a new leadership team.

Avery-Rossi brings his extensive background in the arts, events and creative industries and experience as a three-time NA Festival Ambassador and Queensland media identity.
The appointment follows the festival’s focus on building a strong reputation while expanding its cultural impact, audience reach and artistic programming.
President Sharon Wright said the new appointment reflects a commitment to ensuring the festival continues to thrive as one of Australia’s most respected regional arts events.
With Damien’s leadership and the support of our new Management Committee, we are excited about the future and the opportunities to grow the festival while celebrating the extraordinary talent that defines it,” Wright said.
CEO Damien Anthony Avery-Rossi said he is honoured to take on the role and looks forward to working with the board, artists and community to continue elevating the festival’s profile.
