A 17-year-old girl has gone missing after failing to board a flight, sparking an investigation into her “suspicious” disappearance.
A car has been seized and a property declared a crime scene as the search continues for Phoebe Bishop in southern Queensland.
Pheobe was last seen near Bundaberg airport about 8.30am on May 15 carrying luggage and wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.
However, the teenager did not check in for a booked flight and has not been seen or heard from since.
Her family has said her disappearance was ‘‘out of character’’, Sky News reported.
“My heart is breaking and so are those of her siblings, her family and our friends,” her mother Kylie Johnson said in a social media post.
Phoebe’s family have put up hundreds of posters as they search for her.
A Gin Gin property near Bundaberg, where Pheobe was living, has been declared a crime scene along with a grey Hyundai ix35, police said on Wednesday.
The vehicle – believed to be the car taking Pheobe to the airport – was also seized by police.
“Investigations are ongoing and her disappearance is now being treated as suspicious,” a Queensland Police statement said.
Police have appealed for May 15 dash cam or CCTV footage of the vehicle – Queensland registration 414EW3 – near the airport or in the Gin Gin area.
“Anyone with information regarding Pheobe’s whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately,” police said.
Pheobe is about 180cm tall, pale complexion with long dyed red hair and hazel eyes.
