Zdravko Bilic, 57, had multiple stab wounds when he was found by a neighbour in the exclusive beachside suburb of Warana on Monday night.

“He was the kindest, gentlest person I’ve ever known,” Tomte told the Nine Network.

“Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him.”

Bilic’s Norwegian wife, who owns the HÜD Skin and Body clinics in Melbourne, was not at home at the time, police said.

Police said Bilic may have disturbed a break-and-enter attempt.

They said Tomte became concerned when she had not heard from her husband. A neighbour was asked to check on Bilic, finding him unresponsive in the garden about 7.30pm on Monday.

After emergency services were called, police said the man was found to have two stab wounds to the stomach.

“One of the lines of inquiry is that he’s disturbed a break and enter and we’ll continue to follow that,” Detective Inspector Chris Toohey said on Tuesday.

“His wife hadn’t heard from him and inquired with the neighbour who discovered him deceased.

Anyone in the area from 11pm on Sunday to 7.30pm on Monday who has information or CCTV footage should contact police.

“There’s a number of lines of inquiry and at this stage we’re just looking for more assistance from the community,” Toohey said.

The “well-loved” man’s death had rocked the community, he said.

“He was a valued member of the community. Any death is terrible and it has shocked the neighbours,” he said.

“He is a community-minded person that was well loved in the area.”

The couple’s $2.5 million home on Napelle Street is within walking distance of the Sunshine Coast’s stunning beaches.

Tomte founded HÜD, which is a Norwegian word for “skin”, in 2014.

The business’s website says the skin care expert has two award-winning clinics in St Kilda and Northcote.
