Dutton and wife Kirilly purchased the property at Dayboro, about 40 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, amid the Covid pandemic in August 2020 for $2.1 million.

He could pocket millions more from Friday’s auction.

Realestate.com.au reports a lack of comparable sales in the area makes it difficult to put a price on the farm. Speculation ranges from $3 million to as much as $8 million.

The property is known as Juffs Farm and, according to the listing, “carries a rich rural legacy.”

“Once home to over 100 dairy cows and later supporting thriving beef cattle operations, this property now presents an exceptional canvas for horse enthusiasts, cattle producers, or those seeking a private rural retreat of rare distinction,” the blurb says.

The original Queenslander homestead is on 68 hectares, with 800 metres of creek frontage.

The Duttons renovated the six-bedroom homestead, adding a modern and light-filled extension. In a video on the property listing, Pain describes the renovation as “done to perfection.”

“A lot of care, respect, and detail has been put into this property. The owner has carefully preserved and renovated the original Queenslander,” she says.

“They’ve engaged an architect and what they’ve been able to create here, an entirely new wing that’s truly fitting to the Queensland lifestyle.”

The new wing offers a spacious living room with a hand-crafted stone fireplace as the centrepiece.

“Each stone has been sourced from the property and hand selected to create this masterpiece,” Pain says.

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open up onto a deck overlooking two swimming pools.

Also in the home are four updated bathrooms, a modern country-style kitchen with shaker cabinetry, lounge with wood fire heater, and dining room.

Across the expansive grounds are multiple recreational amenities including a mini golf course, a full-size tennis court with LED lighting, and a creek for kayaking.

The listing emphasises the property’s suitability for livestock and other business opportunities.

“The property also offers scope for small-crop production or even the possibility of turf operations (STCA), making it an outstanding multi-use acreage with remarkable versatility and future upside,” Pain says.

Despite this purchase in 2020, Dutton had began offloading his extensive property portfolio when he began looking towards leadership.

Dutton said he and Kirrily were keen to travel, now their children are adults. The couple will continue to live in Queensland.

“But it’s time for us to downsize. Our youngest has just turned 20,” he told the Courier Mail.

“We are giving unit living a go for a while.”

Dutton, who grew up in the Brisbane area, was a Queensland Police officer before running a construction business with his father.

He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2001 in the seat of Dickson, holding it until losing at the federal election last May.

Dutton has also previously owned childcare centres and investment properties, resulting in more than $30 million in property transactions across 35 years.

Juffs Farm is listed for sale by Vicki Pain from Ray White Dayboro and Eumundi. It will be auctioned at 10am on December 12.
