In what could be music to the ears of Queenslanders, the number of concerts at Suncorp Stadium is set to soar as the government “aggressively” works to bring big names to Brisbane.

The number of concerts at Suncorp Stadium is set to swell after the Queensland government lifted the annual concert cap under a new trial, aimed at attracting more major shows to Brisbane.
A temporary increase to numbers would allow the venue to host up to 21 concert dates this year, up from a previous cap of 12.
The previous concert cap had already been doubled up to 12 from just six two years ago.
Sport and Racing Minister Tim Mander said the move was in response to strong demand for more major acts to visit Brisbane.
“By temporarily lifting the concert cap we can secure more global tours, support local jobs and strengthen Brisbane’s reputation as a world-class events destination as we build toward the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he said in a statement.
Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, Oasis, Coldplay, Dua Lipa and The Weeknd are among a chorus of international acts that have skipped the city when they toured Down Under.
But the government said it was “aggressively working to secure more major music events, as part of its bold 20-year tourism strategy”.

“Queensland’s ability to host world-class events shows exactly why we are increasingly becoming the home of major sports and events in Australia,” Mander said.
“We’ll continue to work closely with the local community to ensure residents are informed about additional events in 2026.”
The stadium is already locked in to host a slew of sporting events this year including, including NRL Magic Round, Men’s and Women’s State of Origin, Wallabies V France and the Rugby League World Cup.
And an estimated 250,000 patrons are expected through the doors within just two weeks as the venue hosts the Australian exclusive of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and British artist Ed Sheeran, who will take to the stage for three nights this weekend.
Global superstars including, Lady Gaga and Elton John have previously played at the stadium.
