Police have charged a woman over the alleged theft of 100 head of cattle from a property in the South Burnett Region.

The Rural and Stock Crime Squad said their investigation into the alleged crime began in May this year, when they received a report cattle and property were missing from a Boondooma farm.

Along with the cattle, police said a tractor and 4km of barbed wire fencing were also reported missing – with a combined total value of more than $280,000.

Detectives later recovered the stolen tractor and barbed wire while executing a search at a Wooroolin address, police said. Picture: Supplied

Police said a 55-year-old woman from Clermont, about 700km away, had access to the property and committed the alleged crimes over a three-year period.

They said detectives later searched a Wooroolin address, where they found the stolen tractor and fencing.

The woman was charged with six counts each of stock stealing and stock fraud, along with one count of enter and commit, and one count of insecure firearms.

The woman is set to appear at Clermont Magistrates Court on August 5.
