The new Queensland Construction Portal has revealed the scale of 617 major projects worth $50m or more currently underway or on in planning.
Launched by Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA), Property Council of Australia and Better Brisbane Alliance, the portal encompasses private and public sector projects, alongside workforce, skills and materials demand into a consolidated platform to support planning, investment and delivery across the state.
Brisbane Economic Development Agency CEO Anthony Ryan said Queensland was entering the most important construction decade in its history.
“BEDA led this work by bringing industry, government and workforce experts together around a shared challenge, because better information and better data ultimately lead to better decisions.”
He added Queensland’s construction industry would finally have access to a single source of truth that connects major project pipelines with future workforce, skills and materials demand.
Portal estimations showed major project construction across the state grew from $33.64 billion in 2024-25 to $38.31 billion in 2025-26, based on Australian Bureau of Statistics growth rates for Queensland of 13.9 per cent over the period.
Property Council Queensland Executive Director Jess Caire said the portal provided a clearer understanding of what’s coming, where activity is concentrated and what that means for workforce, materials and investment decisions.
“The portal helps move the conversation from assumptions to evidence, creating a shared understanding of future demand and supporting better outcomes for project delivery,” Caire said.
“Importantly, this is not simply a property or construction industry tool. It is a platform that can help inform investment decisions, workforce planning, policy development and economic growth right across Queensland.”
The QCP has also revealed the six skills facing the strongest demand are paving and surfacing labourers; crane, hoist and lift operators; concreters; floor finihsers, building and plumbing labourers; and engineers, in that order.

More than 617 major projects are currently identified in the portal across the state, with the pipeline requiring significant volumes of concrete, reinforced steel, drywall lining, structural steel, precast concrete and glass.
Consolidated Properties Group CEO and Chairman Don O’Rorke says greater visibility would help developers and industry confidently deliver the projects reshaping Queensland.
“Developers make investment and delivery decisions years in advance, so visibility of the broader pipeline is incredibly valuable,” O’Rorke said. “You can’t deliver a pipeline of this scale project by project and organisation by organisation.”
The QCP forecasts that over the next year, Queensland will need 3 million cubic square metres of concrete, 256,000 tonnes of reinforcement steel, 7.2 million square metres of dry wall lining, 774,000 square metres of glass, 463,000 tonnes of structural steel and 1.1 million square metres of precast concrete.
