The World Press Photo Exhibition is returning to Brisbane Powerhouse and Brisbane Domestic Terminal, bringing with it a striking snapshot of the defining moments, people and events shaping the world right now.
Highlighting the winning images from the internationally recognised World Press Photo Contest, the exhibition celebrates photojournalism and illuminates the stories driving global conversation. This year’s showcase draws from more than 57,000 entries submitted by photographers across 141 countries, spanning continents, perspectives and lived experiences.
Presented at Brisbane Domestic Terminal from May 25 to June 25 and Brisbane Powerhouse from May 30 to June 21, the must-see exhibition shifts between large-scale global events and intimate, human moments. Images capturing conflict, political tension and the accelerating climate crisis sit alongside scenes of resilience, rebuilding and recovery.

Brisbane Powerhouse CEO and artistic director Louise Bezzina said the exhibition remains a powerful reminder of photography’s ability to connect people across distance and experience.
“These images invite us to look closer, to understand more deeply, and to sit with stories that are often difficult, but necessary to see. It is an honour to share them again with our audiences,” said Louise.
Free to attend, the World Press Photo Exhibition remains one of Brisbane’s most compelling cultural events – inviting visitors to look closer and engage with the stories shaping the world today. Visit the Brisbane Powerhouse website for more information.
Note: this exhibition contains images that depict real-world events, including themes of conflict, violence, human suffering, and crisis. Some visitors may find certain content confronting or distressing. We encourage discretion, especially for younger audiences. Support is available if needed. Please speak to a staff member for assistance.
