Part crime drama, part psychological thriller, Scorched Earth delves into the Irish psyche to question what rights they hold to the land under their feet, and what one would be willing to do to keep it … or take it.
This September, Scorched Earth will make its Australian premiere at the Brisbane Powerhouse, bringing their visceral production to Queensland audiences.
Created by Luke Murphy (the artist behind the award-winning Volcano, a Brisbane Festival 2024 hit), the performance blurs the lines between dance and theatre to tell a story of desire, determination and resentment.
Inspired by The Field, a work by John B. Keane, Scorched Earth brings the audience into the stark atmosphere of an interrogation room, where a detective and suspect dig up ghosts from an unsolved murder.
The 80-minute production is designed to transport the viewer into a tense atmosphere, with haze, theatrical smoke and herbal “cigarettes” adding tangible intensity to the performance.
There are only a handful of opportunities to catch this Attic Projects performance, with sessions from September 17–20. Tickets start from $79.90 per person, and the show is recommended for viewers aged 12 and above.
