Tucked down Sugar Cane Lane off Waterworks Road, Arcade Wine is a charming and intimate 24-seat wine bar and bottle shop that has become a beloved haunt for Brisbane’s westside oenophiles. Owned and operated by Italian-born WSET- and AIS-certified sommelier Danilo Duseli, the venue is styled as an enoteca – a traditional Italian wine repository where bottles, food and conversation intertwine. After a brief stint operating a second location in Redcliffe, Danilo has returned Arcade Wine to its original Ashgrove home, where locals quickly welcomed the cosy bar back with open arms. The red-hued interior – lined with mirrors, greenery and shelves stacked with bottles – offers candle-lit ambience inside alongside a handful of laneway tables outside. The wine program is the star attraction, with around 60 wines available by the glass (including Coravin pours) offering a snapshot of a broader 500-bottle selection that leans heavily Italian, particularly towards Danilo’s native Piedmont, alongside drops from France and emerging Australian regions. The list evolves frequently as new producers are introduced and bottles sell through, and Danilo and his team are always eager to guide guests through the details of each pour. A concise food offering complements the wine, with small plates such as olives, cheese and charcuterie, duck pate on brioche, oysters, meatballs in red-pepper veloute and tiramisu – with preparations handled off-site at Danilo’s Woolloongabba restaurant D.Vino. Bookings are encouraged due to the venue’s size, though guests are also welcome to drop by for a quick glass, a pre-dinner snack or an evening of relaxed wine discovery.
