Bar Monte by Arcade Agency has brought its signature blend of laid-back charm and bold hospitality to Newstead, serving up a modern Italian dining experience in a stylish, 100-seat space designed by Studio Plenty. Accented with retro-tinged flair, the venue offers a mix of intimate banquettes, bar seating and laneway tables – plus a mezzanine level soon to be activated for larger functions. The menu fuses beloved dishes from Bar Monte’s Miami location and Byron Bay’s Pixie Italian, with highlights including mortadella buns with limoncello aioli, yellowfin tuna with pineapple and wagyu pappardelle bolognese. A 100-strong wine list curated by sommelier Andrea Martinisi complements the offering, alongside inventive cocktails such as a caprese martini and mango mai tai. With warm service, an 80s-inspired soundtrack and a focus on creating good vibes over pretension, Bar Monte is a vibrant new addition to Brisbane’s dining scene.
