Birria Boy is a vibrant Mexican-inspired pop-up restaurant from chef Andy Ashby (of C’est Bon fame), bringing bold Mexican flavours and a playful street-food vibe to Woolloongabba’s Clarence Corner. Taking over the heritage space formerly occupied by Clarence, the venue blends rustic charm with terracotta hues, neon lighting and murals, creating a casual, colourful setting. The menu centres on birria tacos made with house-made masa tortillas and slow-cooked fillings like wagyu beef, goat and woodfire-braised mushroom, alongside inventive snacks and share plates such as pork neck with mole negro and tamale-style Murray cod. Complemented by an artisanal tequila and mezcal selection, Birria Boy offers a relaxed, late-night-friendly spot for locals and theatregoers to enjoy quality food, craft drinks and a taste of Mexico with a slight Kiwi twist.
