The site previously home to Bitter Suite changed hands in 2023, with the corner haunt transforming into Common Vice – a neighbourhood wine bar owned by mates Natalie Marcelis, William Suess and Asa Simard. The trio took on the site with the goal of restoring the venue back to its former glory, honouring its history and reestablishing it as a cherished gathering point for the community. The team has rejuvenated the space via a tireless DIY renovation effort, which has seen the walls repainted and the furniture and lighting upgraded, while the brick building’s unique character remains intact. Folks can swing through to get a taste of executive chef Natalie’s menu, which features tasty plates like goat cheese and pear croquettes with honey, beef tart with horseradish cream and fried potatoes, lamb and black pudding terrine, and Cone Bay barramundi with fennel puree, sugar snaps, pine nuts and fried curry leaves. Common Vice’s bar boasts six taps pouring a number of rotating Australian craft beers and a vino list is stocked with natural Australian wines.
