When Jason and Katie Coats took over The Jetty on Oxford, they gave it a new lease on life, but they didn’t neglect the site’s history entirely. After a significant sprucing the venue reopened in 2017 as neighbourhood eatery IL MOLO, the Italian translation of ‘the jetty’. Boasting a crisp, light aesthetic (that matches its waterfront position) and room for long lunches, family dinners and spritzes in the sunshine, IL MOLO is a versatile dining destination for fans of classic Italo cuisine. The menu starts with spuntini like arancini with fontina vecchia and culatello, and beef carpaccio with parmigiano reggiano, truffle mayo, capers. From there seafood dishes like calamari fritti with lemon dill and caper aioli lead into handmade pastas (we’re fond of the spaghetti vongole with clams, lemon, parsley and white wine) and pizzas (the mortadella pizza with pistachio and stracciatella is ace). As for mains, IL MOLO’s free-range crumbed chicken cotoletta with cos lettuce, parmigiano reggiano and white anchovies is primo. On the drinks front, you’re spoiled for choice – enjoy spritzes, classic and house cocktails, draught beers and Italian wines.
