Playa Mexican is the latest venture from the Tony Kelly Restaurant Group (Rice Boi, Giddy Geisha), bringing a fresh, West Coast-inspired take on Mexican cuisine to Bokarina on the Sunshine Coast. Drawing on trends observed in Baja Californian eateries, Playa fuses coastal freshness with bold, produce-driven flavours tailored to local palates. Located next to Bocca Italian and designed with earthy, ocean-inspired elegance, the 300-seat venue offers a flexible dining experience, from small plates like birria croquettes and prawn aguachile to standout tacos and larger dishes such as pineapple-butter chicken and half fish with guajillo chilli. A dedicated tequila and mezcal bar adds to the appeal, alongside a sharp margarita-focused cocktail list and curated wines.
