Taking over the former home of the beloved King Street Bakery in Bowen Hills, Queen Amann Bakery – helmed by Larry Lim, Eddy Tice and Ania Kutek – is a bold concept based around the kouign-amann, a flaky, buttery Breton pastry. Since opening, the bakery has quickly won over locals, regularly selling out most of its range. Queen Amann offers a variety of sweet and savoury delights, including classic and elevated takes on kouginou-amann (including variations boasting strawberry chamomile and bourbon chocolate pecan), croissants, danishes, babka, sausage rolls, pies focaccia and take-home items from its sister brands NYC Bagel Deli and Cordelia Sourdough Bakehouse. Queen Amann also serves specialty beverages like matcha and hojicha alongside Five Senses coffee and embraces a light, modern aesthetic with limited dine-in and footpath seating.
