Second Rodeo is a cosy, character-rich cafe-bar-hybrid in West End created by long-time collaborators and hospitality veterans Chelsea and Beau, who have transformed a character-filled building into a warm, lived-in neighbourhood haunt. After years running South Brisbane’s beloved The Paladar, the pair sought a space that reflected their easygoing style and community-focused ethos. The duo has peeled back the building’s layers to reveal hardwood floors and textured walls, which are now used to display the gang’s collection of oil paintings, books and treasured pieces of local history – including the iconic King Ahiram sign. Second Rodeo serves a concise, comfort-driven offering ranging from avocado toast, granola and Italian-style paninis to afternoon cheese boards, dips, warm olives and focaccia, all supported by caffeine from long-time coffee partners Segafredo. A tightly curated drinks list spans classics on tap – XXX Gold and Guinness – a growing selection of quality wines and a handful of bartender-made cocktails. Above all, the owners hope Second Rodeo becomes a welcoming community hub – a relaxed space where locals can gather for a quiet moment, a chat with friends or a drink that feels just right.
