Fans of incredible brunch scored a new reason to jump for joy in 2019 when top cafe operators Daniel and Hannah Bowles expanded to Hawthorne with Sister, a colourful, sun-soaked spot on Hawthorne Road. Sister boasts a casual-cool style complete with a playful palette of peach and lavender tones, while the menu balances comfort and creativity with dishes such as breakfast gnocchi with mushroom ragu, bacon crumb, parmesan and poached egg, sticky pork-belly benedict served atop potato hash with braised greens and hollandaise, strawberry-and-matcha waffles with matcha mascarpone, sesame bark and strawberry gelato, and avocado on sourdough with romesco, labneh, pickled daikon and curry leaves. There’s also a selection of burgers, fish tacos, smoothies and cold-pressed juices, while Single O’s popular Killerbee blend keeps the coffee crowd fuelled from morning through to lunch.
