Art on James x Outer Space: A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table)

A shared table can be much more than a place to eat – it can be a space where culture, memory and identity are passed from one generation to the next. That idea is at the heart of A Seat At Theโต๊ะ (Table), a new exhibition at Outer Space by emerging artist Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald.

On Thursday September 25, 30 guests are invited to join Ellamay and members of Brisbane’s arts community for an intimate banquet in the private dining room at popular Southeast Asian dining spot sAme sAme on James St. The evening celebrates the way food can spark conversation, connection and creativity, with a menu that pays tribute to Ellamay’s Thai and Australian heritage.

Through lens-based storytelling and installation, the exhibition reflects on how meals shape belonging and cultural identity, drawing on the lived experiences of six Asian Australian participants. It’s a reminder that shared dining is about more than food – it’s a link to who we are.

Guests will be treated to a bespoke three-course banquet layered with some of sAme sAme’s most exciting flavours, inspired by Ellamay’s heritage. The evening begins with welcome drinks at 6:30 pm, followed by the seated banquet from 7:00 pm. Tickets are $160 per person and include the full banquet menu and drinks.
