The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) returns to Brisbane in 2026 with two captivating concert programs as part of its national tours. In May, the Interwoven series will showcase Australian composer Elizabeth Younan’s evocative new work alongside Haydn’s masterful string quartet, Prokofiev’s folk-inspired Second Quartet, and Clara Schumann’s Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann.
Later in the year, the Voyager tour arrives in October, featuring Garth Knox’s textural Satellites, Bartók’s striking String Quartet No.4, and Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op.130 with the Grosse Fuge. Performed on a rare matched set of Guadagnini instruments, the ASQ – comprised of Dale Barltrop, Francesca Hiew, Chris Cartlidge and Michael Dahlenburg – promises Brisbane audiences an unforgettable experience of world-class chamber music.
