Bangarra Dance Theatre is returning to QPAC with Sheltering, a powerful new triple bill uniting dance, film and storytelling through a distinctly First Nations lens.
Taking over the Glasshouse Theatre stage from July 9–18, the unmissable production brings together Keeping Grounded, Brown Boys and Sheoak – three works connected by an exploration of shelter as a place of protection, memory and cultural knowledge shared across generations.
Created by a mix of emerging and celebrated Bangarra creatives, the program moves between contemporary choreography and cinematic storytelling while exploring identity, resilience and the ties between people and place. Highlights include Glory Tuohy-Daniell’s Keeping Grounded, Daniel Mateo and Cass Mortimer Eipper’s dance film Brown Boys, and Frances Rings’ acclaimed work Sheoak, featuring music by Munaldjali and Nunukul man and renowned composer David Page.
Tickets to Sheltering are on sale now via the QPAC website.
Cultural Content AdvisoryThis work honours the late David Page, whose music remains a living heartbeat within Bangarra’s story. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this content includes the name, voice and creative legacy of a person who has passed. Bangarra share this work with deep respect and love for David, his family, and community.
