BrisAsia Festival returns this February to celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse with a vibrant program of 28 events across 17 Brisbane suburbs. Now in its 14th year, the festival brings together more than 350 artists through music, dance, comedy, food and contemporary Asian culture.
Highlights include the popular Southside By Night street party, a high-energy ON:STAGE K-pop dance showcase, the inaugural BrisAsia Comedy Gala, and Hyoshi in Counterpoint, a free all-ages concert by an all-female Asian fusion band. New experiences this year include the Lunar Soul Party at Thomas Dixon Centre, Velvet Lounge neo-soul and R&B nights at Mr Vain Restaurant and Bar, BrisAsia Sk8 Zone, and interactive comedy improv workshops.
Returning favourites such as BrisAsia Dance Battles at Queen Street Mall and Sunnybank’s Lunar New Year Rooftop Party will also feature, alongside food pop-ups curated by chef Benny Lam and exclusive dining experiences across participating venues. Special performances include 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri, presented by Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concerts.
