As the sun sets on Friday 31 January, The Calile will be illuminated with artist Tony Albert’s powerful artwork ‘I am Visible’. In partnership with the National Gallery of Australia, The Calile will present artist Tony Albert’s animated illuminated artwork on the façade of the hotel.

Join Tony Albert and National Gallery of Australia Director Dr Nick Mitzevich for an evening of canapés and intimate conversation under the projected artwork.

‘I am Visible’ showcases First Nations empowerment – working with community, Albert references pop culture and historical art iconography to destabilise stereotypes and provide a positivity in the face of adversity.

Albert (Girramay/Yidinji/Kuku-Yalanji peoples), exhibits internationally and nationally and in 2023 was announced as the inaugural Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain First Nations Curatorial Fellow, a role that involved working closely with 14 artists to realise their works for the Sydney Biennale. Albert’s work can be seen in major national and international museums, private collections.

Attendance is free with registration required. Welcome drinks will be provided followed by a cash bar.
