Clancestry festival returns to QPAC from July 23 to August 10, bursting with the sounds, stories and spirit of First Nations culture. Proudly led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creatives, the 2025 festival opens with The Visitors – Muruwari playwright Jane Harrison’s powerful reimagining of 1788, as seven Aboriginal leaders face the arrival of a mysterious fleet.
The energy builds with Wata, an electrifying orchestral collaboration with Yolŋu songmen Daniel Ngukurr Boy Wilfred and David Yipininy Wilfred, and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO). Bangarra Dance Theatre is set to stun with Illume, a luminous new work exploring the cultural power of light. Topping it off, ARIA-winning duo Electric Fields join forces with QSO for a show-stopping, genre-blending concert.
The festival program is also jam-packed with free events for all ages – from Clancestry for Kids, a joyful weekend of culture and creativity, to Live Art at Clancestry sessions and two electrifying nights of live music on the Mob Music stage at QPAC’s Melbourne Street Green.
