Australia’s first female Governor-General, Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, will step into the spotlight at Brisbane Powerhouse for an evening of conversation and celebration.
This special event marks the official Queensland launch of Quentin Bryce: The Authorised Biography, a sweeping account of a life devoted to leadership, reform and community. Dame Quentin will be in conversation with the Honourable Anna Bligh AC, Queensland’s first female Premier, as the two share reflections on growing up in Queensland, the rise of feminism and the value of a friendship that has spanned decades.
Adding further insight, author Juliet Rieden will discuss the journey of writing the authorised biography. After two years of meticulous research and more than a hundred interviews, Juliet captures the remarkable breadth of Dame Quentin’s career – from championing human rights and equality to breaking barriers in law, education and government.
Guiding the exchange is journalist Bryce Corbett, who will bring energy and depth to the conversation. The evening also features a live performance by multi-ARIA award-winning artist Katie Noonan and finishes with an intimate book signing, giving guests the chance to connect with Dame Quentin in person.
For admirers of Australian politics, history and literature, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a woman whose leadership and legacy continue to inspire generations.
