The enchantment of Swan Lake meets the thrill of the circus when Duck Pond splashes onto the stage at QPAC this May.
Created by Brisbane-based performing arts powerhouse Circa, the glittering production collides the worlds of Swan Lake and The Ugly Duckling, transforming the beloved ballet into a high-energy spectacle filled with humour, flair and, of course, plenty of feathers.
Under the direction of Yaron Lifschitz, the Circa ensemble brings Duck Pond to life with a lively mix of classical inspiration, contemporary circus energy and cheeky humour. The result is a thrilling circus mash-up where graceful swans and hapless princes share the stage with a quirky cast of characters, including a sequinned, flipper-wearing duck army to a sultry burlesque black swan.
Expect jaw-dropping acrobatics, sweeping aerials and plenty of unexpected moments as Duck Pond’s themes of identity and transformation unfold through Circa’s bold physicality and signature mix of movement, dance, theatre and circus.
