La Boite Theatre is serving up horror with a TikTok twist in Eat Slay Zombie, a sharp, genre-bending new production that blends comedy, chaos and social commentary in equal measure.
Set in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, the story follows best friends Sheree and Tash who are bunkering down inside a bowling alley as the world outside unravels. In this new reality, TikTok has become the sole form of communication, delivering everything from zombie kill tallies to DIY survival tips, while familiar places – even Bunnings – are firmly out of bounds. When an unexpected survivor arrives, the duo’s carefully controlled existence is thrown off balance, forcing them to weigh up trust, risk and what might still be waiting beyond the doors.
Co-directed by playwright, multidisciplinary artist and Githabul-Migunberri-Yugumbeh woman Alinta McGrady alongside Lisa Fa’alafi (co-artistic director Polytoxic and Hot Brown Honey), Eat Slay Zombie leans into its horror-comedy premise while unpacking deeper themes of colonisation, friendship and state control.
Tickets to the limited season of Eat Slay Zombie are on sale now.
