GOMA Friday Nights brings a new after-hours energy to Brisbane across May and June, combining top local DJs, pop-up performances and an intimate vinyl listening bar with exclusive evening access to major exhibition Olafur Eliasson: Presence.
The weekly experience shifts the gallery into after-dark mode, where multi-sensory art meets live music and performance. The Brisbane-exclusive exhibition takes on a different energy at night, with its large-scale explorations of light and colour unfolding in new ways – from the glowing ‘sun’ of Presence 2026 to the rainbow haze of Beauty 1993 emerging from the shadows.
The nights build around a vinyl listening bar, where a rotating line-up of selectors spin each week, paired with Japanese-inspired cocktails and delicious snacks. Across the gallery, freestyle dancers, DJs and live sound by award-winning percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson respond to the works in real time, bringing the space to life from every angle.
