A highlight of the 2026 Horizon Festival program, Yauar Warai Wandi – Sing, Dance, Gather brings a powerful celebration of Country to Coolum Beach on Saturday May 2. The family-friendly event will come to life across Lions Park and Norrie Job Park, framed by ocean breezes and open sky.
Honouring the living relationships between flora, fauna and Country, Yauar Warai Wandi showcases First Nations strength, spirit and storytelling through an expansive afternoon of contemporary and traditional performance, music, ceremony and collaborative sculpture. The program brings together cultural knowledge and creative expression, reflecting the enduring connections between Gubbi Gubbi Country and neighbouring Jinibara, Quandamooka and Butchulla lands.
Running for three hours, the immersive seaside experience invites audiences to move through performances and installations at their own pace, with dialogue shared in English and First Nations languages. Suitable for all ages and abilities, it’s an invitation to gather, listen and connect through culture, creativity and community.
Yauar Warai Wandi forms part of Horizon Festival’s ten-day celebration of art, culture and community across the Sunshine Coast from May 1–10. Visit the festival website to explore the full program.
