Grab a pencil, loosen up and get ready for a gloriously chaotic night of fashion, art and self-expression when HOTMESS x Make a Scene lands at Queensland Museum on Friday April 24.
Inspired by the museum’s Make a Scene: Fashioning Queer Identity and Club Culture in the 90s exhibition, the one-night activation blends immersive theatre with life drawing in a colourful celebration of creativity and individuality. Created by multidisciplinary artists Sophie May and Gabrielle Miller, HOTMESS will transform Queensland Museum into a lively creative playground where a theatrical tableaux unfolds throughout the night, giving guests the chance to capture each moment on paper.
Expect bold costumes, pumping music and plenty of larger-than-life visuals as each scene comes to life. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or are new to drawing, the experience is designed to be welcoming, relaxed and a little bit cheeky. All materials are supplied, so guests can simply grab a seat, sketch the scene and enjoy the atmosphere.
Ticket holders will receive a complimentary drink on arrival and exclusive after-hours access to the Make a Scene exhibition from 5:00–9:00 pm, with a pop-up bar open for sips across the night.
Guests can choose between an early session filled with light-hearted absurdity or a later, edgier session for adults only – or bundle both and make a full night of it.
