Institute of Modern Art Gala and Benefit Auction

Queensland’s biggest night for contemporary art is back. The annual IMA Gala and Benefit Auction invites artists, collectors, cultural leaders and art lovers to gather for an evening of glamour, generosity and spirited bidding, with proceeds supporting the Institute of Modern Art’s ambitious program of exhibitions and artist commissions. As Queensland’s premier fundraising auction for contemporary art, the event has previously featured works by celebrated names including Archibald Prize winners Julie Fragar and Mitch Cairns, alongside leading Australian artists Richard Bell, Vernon Ah Kee, D Harding and Paul Yore.

This year’s theme, Art Couture, encourages guests to channel a legendary artist or pay homage to an iconic art movement – with a prize awarded to the best dressed. Bidding for the Benefit Auction opens online from Wednesday July 22 before culminating at the gala on Friday August 7, where select works will be available exclusively on the night.
