For one night only, QPAC welcomes acclaimed First Nations artist Toni Janke to the stage with Inheritance, an intimate live music and storytelling performance shaped by her lived experience, artistry and cultural lineage. Drawing on her deep roots as a proud descendant of the Wuthathi, Yadhaigana and Meriam peoples, Toni leads audiences through a richly layered exploration of identity, ancestry and connection.
Guided by the metaphor of a precious jewel passed down through generations, Inheritance reflects on the stories and memories Toni carries. The moving theatrical experience asks a guiding question: what do we truly inherit – and what will we choose to pass on?
Soulful ballads, spoken word passages and acoustic soundscapes sit at the heart of the performance, revealing the power of music and storytelling to hold memory, truth and emotion.
Toni is joined on stage by an exceptional ensemble of musicians, actors and First Nations dancers, with choreography by Jeanette Fabila adding movement and energy throughout the night. Presented in collaboration with Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre, Inheritance is a one-night-only opportunity to experience Toni Janke at her most personal and compelling.
