Jemima Wyman: Deep Surface, the first major retrospective of Los Angeles-based Australian artist and Palawa woman Jemima Wyman, opens on Monday February 16 at QUT Art Museum. Spanning three decades of practice, the exhibition brings together works from the mid-1990s to the 2020s across collage, textiles, installation, video, performance and painting, including rarely seen early pieces and her distinctive collages of vibrant smoke imagery. A QUT alumna, Wyman developed the exhibition in close collaboration with curator Katherine Dionysius, marking a significant professional and personal homecoming. Accompanied by a 208-page monograph – the first major publication dedicated to her work – the exhibition will tour to Samstag Museum of Art in Adelaide in 2026 and UNSW Galleries in Sydney in 2027, further cementing Wyman’s impact on contemporary art in Australia and internationally.
