La Boite Theatre Giving Day

For more than a century, La Boite Theatre has helped nurture emerging artists and foster a love of theatre in audiences of all ages. On Tuesday June 23, the company will continue that mission through its annual Giving Day fundraiser.

Founded in 1925 by a drama teacher and a university professor, La Boite has long championed theatre as a space for creativity, learning and self-expression. Today, that commitment extends beyond the stage through a range of programs designed to support artists, encourage participation and introduce young people to the performing arts.

Funds raised through Giving Day will help expand opportunities for emerging theatre-makers to develop their practice while also supporting initiatives that make live performance more accessible to school and university students.

A snapshot of what these programs make possible will take centre stage this weekend (June 19–20) at the Assembly 2026 Showcase, when 27 artists present original works developed through La Boite’s flagship Assembly program. Taking over the Roundhouse Theatre across two evenings, the showcase offers audiences a glimpse into the breadth of talent and ideas emerging from Queensland’s independent theatre community.
