Local Guide is a solo exhibition by Brisbane artist duo Grant x Wilkes, running from Friday November 7 to Sunday November 16, 2025 at Loupe Creative Space in Yeerongpilly.
Both playful and unsettling, the exhibition explores the fragility of online knowledge in an era of surveillance capitalism, where data and trust have become commodities. Through a series of imagined suburban landmarks uploaded to Google Maps, Grant x Wilkes transform the virtual into the tangible using digital photography, painting, 3D photogrammetry and analogue processes. The result is a witty and thought-provoking reflection on how our everyday interactions continue to shape the digital and physical worlds we inhabit.
