June 24–27, 2026
Cremorne Theatre, QPACCnr Grey and Melbourne St, South Brisbane Directions
A remarkable true story will come to life at QPAC this June when Lose to Win arrives for a limited season. Presented by Belvoir St Theatre, the enthralling solo production traces the lived experience of performer Mandela Mathia, who took a remarkable journey from South Sudan to Egypt and eventually to the stage.
Blending spoken word, song and comedy, Mandela delivers his compelling story with warmth and honesty. Under the direction of Jessica Arthur, the production leans into Mandela’s natural stage presence, allowing moments of humour and reflection. Reviews have praised the work’s warmth and honesty, with Mandela’s ability to balance difficult themes with lightness singled out as a defining strength.
Lose to Win shines a light on the South Sudanese community, while weaving in themes of resilience and the power of imagination. The powerful, personal work – described as an ‘astonishing’ modern Australian story – is set to leave a lasting impression on Brisbane audiences.
Tickets are on sale now.
