Love Your Book Shop Day at Avid Reader

In honour of this year’s Love Your Bookshop Day, West End’s literary hub Avid Reader is going all out with a stacked lineup of activities and offerings, giving all the more reason to pay your local indie bookshop a visit.

A community Art Fair will take over the space behind the bookshop, bringing goods from exclusively Meanjin-based artists to the space. Across the carpark and on the back deck, visitors will be able to find prints, ceramics, plants, toys and records from local vendors including Odd Hand Co., Soru Soru, Jet Black Cat Music, Prince & Scribe Studio, CeramiGabi, Merivale Studios and more.

A photo booth will be set up at the front of the store so visitors can commemorate the trip to their favourite bookstore on Love Your Bookstore day. Meanwhile in the Vault at the back of the store, tattoo artist Grace (@loudplanetstattoo) will return for some in-store inking joined by Cyan (@cyan_ever) – the two will be doing flash tattoos for the entire day, so you can memorialise the event with some fresh ink.

The free-entry event will see 100 percent of the takings going to each artist and vendor, reinforcing Avid Reader’s philosophy of supporting local.
