Once a small, candlelit affair, the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade returns to South Bank for its 19th year this July. Lighting up Brisbane’s pathways with intricate and awe-inspiring lanterns, this annual event is a family-friendly way to welcome, connect and celebrate Australia’s multicultural community.
Arrive from 5:30 pm to score a good vantage point, before the parade sets off at 6:00 pm from the Epicurious Garden in South Bank’s parklands. After the parade concludes, a World Music Concert will begin at Riverside Green at 7:00 pm, offering audience members of all ages an opportunity to embrace the diversity of people within Queensland that makes it such a special place to live.
Ahead of Multicultural Queensland Month in August, LUMINOUS Lantern Parade is Brisbane’s chance to step outside, swap the couch for candlelight and celebrate the city’s diversity together.
